Impetro Gear Backpack: A Comprehensive Review

Choosing the right backpack for hiking is essential because you want to be able to hold everything you need while also being comfortable and pain-free.

Having had the chance to test the Impetro Gear Backpack, I can attest to its versatility. With its interchangeable pack features, it’s a standout choice for hiking and a range of other outdoor activities. While it’s not without its drawbacks, the backpack’s adaptability to different pursuits is a major plus.

In this review, I’ll share my first impressions of the backpack, its features, and the pros and cons of using it.

First Impressions of the Impetro Gear Backpack

The overall design of this pack rings outdoors to me. The pack was created to cater to many different types of outdoor communities. While there is only one color option, it can definitely fit the lifestyle of anyone willing to wear it.

The pack is made with materials that allow stretch when holding gear, protect your bag from sharp objects, and are weatherproof. It also has very durable zipper systems.

The largest pack module is a 33L add-on. The weight isn’t very much when the pack is unloaded, and the materials used don’t hinder the weight of the pack on your shoulders when it is loaded, either.

Impetro Gear Backpack Key Features

The Impetro Gear Backpack’s standout feature is its interchangeable module system. This innovative design allows you to transform the backpack into a 10, 15, 22, or 33-liter pack with a simple zip, catering to a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, skiing, and mountaineering.

Each pack offers many different options. The biking pack offers a hydration bladder pocket, for example, and the mountaineering pack has the most pockets available from all the modules. You simply zip a module on, adjust the straps to fit you properly, and then you’re ready for your next outdoor adventure.

The Impetro Gear Backpack is designed with comfort in mind. While there are a few areas I’d tweak, overall, it’s a pleasure to wear on both short and longer hikes during my testing period. This reassurance of comfort is a key selling point for the backpack.

The pack is fairly weather-resistant. There is a rain cover built into the largest of the packs. The material of the pack is made with a few different weather-resistant technologies, including 400D Nylon and 330D N66.

There are water bottle holders, multiple pockets, and various tool holders for mountaineering and skiing. You could easily adapt all the features to benefit your outdoor activities, though. For example, I store my trekking pole in the ski pole holder, and it works just fine for that use.

Needless to say, the Impetro Gear Backpack is very fully featured.

Impetro Gear Backpack Performance

Overall, I found the Impetro Gear Backpack to be fairly comfortable on the trail. On longer hikes, I did have some issues and had to adjust. I also had to ensure that I wore certain shirts when using the pack.

The pack handles weight very well. Its different pockets and overall structure were definitely designed to cater to a healthy weight distribution. Balancing the weight of your backpack when hiking is very important to avoid wear and pain to your body.

During my testing period, I used the Impetro Gear Backpack on short hikes of a mile or less and longer hikes in the 10-mile range. I was impressed by its durability, as it showed no signs of wear or tear, maintaining its pristine condition and proving its long-lasting quality.

The pack is simple to use. It’s easy to add the different modules and zip and unzip the zipped features. The pockets are also fairly easy to get to when you’re wearing the backpack.

Overall, I felt the Impetro Gear Backpack performed very well.

PROs and CONs of this Backpack

My favorite things about this backpack are:

• The ability to change out the backpack modules makes it easier to have one backpack for every activity I do, which is hiking, backpacking, cycling, and kayaking.
• There are many different pockets and tool holders. Some people don’t want these features, but I like to organize what I carry, so they benefit me greatly.
• The backpack is well made. The zipper is smooth and doesn’t get seized up easily, and the material holds out well in rugged conditions.
• It’s stylish, light enough, and bright enough. It’s neutral and could fit anyone for any activity.

There are a few things that I don’t really care for concerning this pack, though:

• The hip belt pockets are too far back, making them hard to access while wearing the pack. To be honest, this seems to be an issue with most backpack brands, though.
• I’m 6’5″ tall, so getting the pack to fit me took a lot of adjustment and fine-tuning. If the company had a taller pack option, I would have preferred that.
• The shoulder straps could be more comfortable. On longer hikes, I had to adjust them due to minor pain and discomfort. Wearing sleeveless shirts was a mistake because the strap rubbed on my skin and made it raw.
• The pack overall is breathable but the area in between the pack and my back was not very breathable. I sweat a lot, and that moisture wasn’t really able to go anywhere. Some sort of mesh internal frame would be nice.

After carefully weighing the pros and cons of the Impetro Gear Backpack, I can confidently say that it is a worthwhile investment. The unique interchangeable module system alone makes it a standout choice for outdoor enthusiasts, offering versatility and convenience.

Comparison to My Other Backpacks

I’m primarily an Osprey Backpack user. I love my Osprey packs. They’re well made and comfortable, and Osprey will fix them if they’re damaged as part of their warranty.

My Osprey Packs are typically my go-to pack but here lately, I’ve opted to use the Impetro Gear Backpack more than once.

I can’t justify saying the Impetro backpack is better than the Osprey packs. However, I can openly say that it isn’t worse than those packs. While it may not have all the features of an Osprey, it clearly has every feature that a hiker or other outdoor adventurer needs in order to enjoy their experience in nature.

And the best part? The Impetro Gear Backpack doesn’t break the bank. Its affordability makes it a smart investment for any outdoor enthusiast.

The price and the ability to change your desired backpack level makes this pack so worth using.

You can totally customize your experience with this backpack, and that’s what makes it so valuable, in my opinion.

Final Thoughts About the Impetro Gear Backpack

The Impetro Gear Backpack is such an amazing concept. Based on my recommendations, the company can improve the bag by making it more breathable and comfortable, catering to taller folks, and maybe even adding a few different color options.

However, beyond my tiny issues, I think getting this pack is very worth it, and I’m really happy to have it in my outdoor gear collection.

This backpack system is best suited for day hikers, cyclists, and those who go on longer adventures and don’t need a really big backpack.

I recommend getting the Impetro Gear Backpack, and if you do, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by it.
