Friends of the Shawnee National Forest is a non-profit organization that supports the Shawnee National Forest.

I’ve been a board member of the organization for a few years. I maintain their website, and I also serve on the volunteer committee. I’m proud to be a part of this organization because it supports the Shawnee National Forest, which I love dearly. As you know, I’m in Shawnee every week, usually two or three times a week.

I invite you to join Friends of the Shawnee National Forest if you have not become a member already.

Aside from membership, you can also buy official Shawnee National Forest merchandise on their online store or the Ranger Stations for the Shawnee.

The good news is that all the money gets put back into the Shawnee National Forest.

Public lands depend on organizations like Friends of the Shawnee National Forest and others to get assistance in maintenance and programs.

The Friends have helped lead many fishing derbies, trash cleanup days, invasive plant species removal, herbicide treatment, and train maintenance.
