Hikes

Hiking with Shawn group hikes is something I’m planning to do more of soon.

I know that many of you would like to hike with me, and I’d love to hike with you. I have some ideas for group hiking events. I’d also like to see your comment about places to go. I also want to touch base on some issues with it, too.

Hiking with Shawn Group Hikes: Donation Hikes

The Hiking with Shawn group hikes will be free to anyone who wants to go to them.

However, I have this idea to ask all participants to bring a canned good item or a bag of pet food to donate. This would be totally optional. We would then donate the canned goods to a local pantry or church that gives food to underprivileged people in their community. We’d donate the pet food to local humane societies. We would donate these items to a different pantry/church and humane society for each hike.

Issues to Understand

There are some logistical issues and rules to take note of.

If we do wilderness hikes, we can only have ten people max. That would include me. These are wilderness area rules, and I will abide by them. So, if we do a wilderness hike, it might have to be a registration system. But there can be no bending of these rules as it would be against the law.

Some areas don’t have much parking, and some have parking after driving on very rough and muddy roads. That isn’t going to be a good thing for everyone.

So, we might want to keep hikes in areas that are easily accessible with a good amount of parking available.

I’d also be open to Hiking with Shawn group bike rides at Tunnel Hill or Dixon/Glendale for mountain bike rides.

Suggest Hiking with Shawn Group Hikes

I would love your suggestions on some good Hiking with Shawn group hikes!

Please keep suggestions for southern Illinois hikes. And keep them for public land. What areas have you always wanted to see but have never been to?

I’d love to provide these group hikes to those interested in more areas of the Shawnee National Forest and other southern Illinois state land.

How to Get Notified of Group Hikes

Getting notified of Hiking with Shawn group hikes is easy.

I’ll create an event on Facebook. If the hikes start to get large, I may have to create events for which participants register. This will help control some logistics of it.

If you’re not on Facebook, subscribe to my newsletter to get notified of events. I’ll send out Group Hiking Event emails when they become available.

I’ll also try to create a section on my website to show upcoming Hiking with Shawn group hikes.

And let me end by saying my group hikes are for everyone. We won’t be rushing anyone. If you want to stop, take pictures, and look around, that will be fine. Dogs are welcome as long as they’re on a leash. Sometimes horseback riders have dogs that are not on a leash, however. It is essential to know that. You’ll need to wear comfortable and sturdy hiking footwear and bring plenty of snacks and water. I’ll explain area information, history, and hiking tips along the way.

I’m excited about getting this off the ground!

Please Support Hiking with Shawn

Alrighty folks, I hope you have enjoyed this content. I provide it for free and it takes a while to create. If you would be so kind enough to support my efforts, you can do so by sharing this post with others, especially on social media. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel to see my latest videos, shorts and live streams. Follow me on FacebookInstagramTwitter and TikTok for unique content that you will only find on those pages. You might also join my Southern Illinois Hiking & Outdoor Resources Group on Facebook, too!

You can also support me by becoming a Patreon Supporter for as little as $3/month and you can cancel anytime (no contracts or catches). Patreons get access to extra features, exclusive articles, sticker packs, gifts and more. Consider buying official Hiking with Shawn Merchandise as another way to support me. I spend a lot of money on Hiking with Shawn and because of extremely high public land permit fees, I make very little money in return so everything helps.

Thanks again for checking out another one of my articles and until next time, I’ll see you on the trail!
